With these filters, there is no need to pre-wet the membrane or flush pre-wetting chemicals. The hydrophilic PTFE membranes are able to maintain filtration integrity, reduce interference with biological processes, and maximize shelflife. Sterlitech's hydrophobic PTFE can also be used for filtering aqueous solutions, if pre-wetted with alcohol.
Cytiva also offers high-performance GD/X syringe filters with a multi-layer glass fiber prefilter for filtering larger volumes of harder-to-filter samples. Hydrophilic PES membranes are designed for stability in low pH, have low levels of extractables, and exhibit low protein binding, making them suitable for many aqueous and organic solvents.
